Cinnamon Rolls
I’ve made apple butter cinnamon rolls and even peach cinnamon rolls on this channel but haven’t made classic regular cinnamon rolls! Everytime I go to the mall and pass by Cinnabon, I smell the cinnamon and butter wafting through the air tempting me to buy a cinnamon roll. This time, I decided to make my own! :D
Galette des Rois
finally made it this year and just in time! Galette des Rois is delicious pastry made in January to celebrate Epiphany (January 6). You would usually hide a small trinket inside the pastry and whoever gets the slice with the trinket becomes king for the day!
Persimmon Jam
I love persimmons. They’re a classic fall and early winter fruit and since it’s already the end of December, that means they’re going away soon! So, this year, I decided to make some jam out of this delicious fruit with various ways of enjoying the end result! :D
Gingerbread Stamped Cookies
I bought cookie stamps a year ago hoping to make stamped cookies that I found so pretty yet I never got around to it. Since I make cookie boxes every Christmas to give to friends and family, I decided that this year is the year I make them! These gingerbread stamped cookies are packed with ginger flavor that are decorated with such beautiful patterns.
Passion Fruit Tart
There’s a cafe in LA called Doubting Thomas that has a delicious and beautiful passion fruit pie (they call theirs pie, I consider it a tart though? haha). I rarely see passion fruit in the grocery store so when I recently saw some in stock, I had to buy a couple to make my own version of passion fruit tart! Passion fruit is so expensive though and so I opt to make the tart with passion fruit purée which is much cheaper! This tart is delicious and my friends all gave me compliments on it! :D
Kabocha Pumpkin Pie with Hojicha Whippe Cream and Graham Cracker Crumble
Have you seen Milk Bar’s pumpkin caramel pie? Instead of baking a pumpkin custard, they make a pumpkin ganache, which sounded so interesting to me so I had to try it out. Yet, I wanted to add a bit of a twist to it and something to balance out the sweetness of the ganache more; so I topped it with a hojjicha whipped cream to add the nice bitterness that roasted matcha provides. I also swapped the pumpkin puree with steamed kabocha, which is a japanese squash that I love and is naturally sweet! Overall, this pie was delicious!
Persimmon Upside Down Cake
I’m always so happy when it hits this time of year: fall! This is because some of my favorite fruits are in season. One of which is the beautiful persimmon. I wanted to try baking something with this fruit and I landed on an upside down cake. Persimmons don’t have the intense flavor profile that a pineapple has but it has a subtle warmth that I feel compliments this cake quite well.
Apple Butter Apple Galette
Nothing says fall like apple pie! But galettes are so much easier to make than pies and so I made this apple galette! To up the apple flavor, I added apple butter. But since apple butter takes a while to make, I sped up the process by using apple sauce!
Pumpkin Butter Mochi
I made corn butter mochi before and on that video I received a comment about making the butter mochi instead with pumpkin, and so I definitely had to try it! It’s so good. I love everything pumpkin pie and this pumpkin butter mochi has the flavor of pumpkin pie but with the texture of chewy springy mochi! It’s also super easy to make.
Taiyaki
Last week I made a dish my mom enjoys so this week I decided to make one that my dad especially loves! I present to you: taiyaki! It’s a fish-shaped cake that’s filled with red bean paste. But you can fill it with any filling you like such as nutella, custard, and even peanut butter! There’s different styles of taiyaki but I like my mine super crispy on the outside yet chewy on the inside. In Korean, we call these guys bungeoppang (붕어빵)!
