Peach Ice Cream
This summer has been quite hot and ice cream has been in high demand. My ice cream maker is a grandpa. My parents got it more than 20 years ago. Since it is usually sitting in the garage, I decided to make better use of it this summer! Here’s some delicious peach ice cream. It’s flavorful and packed with the juicy flavor of peaches, yet light and refreshing at the same time.
Peach Syrup (청)
I first found out about cheong (청) through MyCookingTree's youtube channel and have loved making these fruity delicious syrups ever since! They make such flavorful and delicious drinks, especially during the summer. You can let them sit outside longer to ferment and even turn a bit vinegary, which adds a nice tang!
Biscotti
This was my very first attempt at making biscotti. I love these twice-baked crunchy cookies that pair so well with coffee! One of the best thing about making them yourself is that you can adjust them to your preference. Do you like a super hard crunch or instead a crispy exterior with a slightly soft center?
Shiso Orange Ice Cream
I had a phase where I loved to make different flavors of ice cream. I struggled a lot, encountering ice creams that were too icy or flavor combos that were unpalatable. One flavor combo that I randomly made and fell in love with is this one. Shiso and orange. It’s so good! If you like mint ice cream and citrus, you should definitely give this one a try. :)
Raspberry Cake
I baked my own birthday cake for my birthday… haha. I made this exact same cake for another friend’s birthday a month ago and decided to make a video on it. It is SO. MUCH. WORK. But thankfully, my friends and family said they liked the taste of the cake. Hopefully, they weren’t being nice just because it was my birthday haha.
Belgian Waffles
Pancakes or Waffles? Though I love both, I have to choose waffles! Those pockets were made just for syrup! Waffles also have a nice delicate soft interior with a contrast of a crunchy exterior. What I especially love about waffles is the fact that you can freeze any leftovers so that you can have waffles anytime! I love Belgian waffles because they’re thicker than usual waffles which accentuates the juxtaposition between soft and crispy.
Compost Cookies
I first had a compost cookie when I visited my cousins in New York and they introduced me to Milk Bar. I was surprised. Chips and pretzels in a cookie? But I loved it. The salty crunch adds such a depth to the sweetness of a cookie. It was a flavor profile that, at that time, I was unaware of. These cookies, also known as kitchen sink cookies, are one of my favorites (and also my mom’s!).
Pistachio Pie
Pistachios are delicious. Pistachio pie? Even better! The nutty salty duo pairs so well with the sweetness of pastry cream to make a subtle but pronounced sweet and salty balance.
Burnt Basque Cheesecake
Have you ever had a Burnt Basque Cheesecake? This type of cheesecake went viral a couple years ago. I finally boarded the band wagon to try it out recently and I understand the hype. It’s so delicious!
Strawberry Crepe Cake
Crepe cakes are awesome because they do not require an oven. But they’re a lot of work… so much work… haha. I like this recipe that I made because you don’t need fresh strawberries that are in season. You just use jam and freeze dried strawberries for the filling.
